Preschool Facility — Contaminated Site Development
Residential Cleanup Standards · DERM Approval · Miami-Dade County
Challenge
A proposed preschool facility was planned for a site with prior environmental impact. Given the sensitive end use — a facility occupied by children — DERM required thorough assessment and documentation of cleanup to protective residential levels before approving the project.
Approach
CEC performed a comprehensive soil and groundwater investigation, assessed contamination concentrations against FDEP residential cleanup target levels, and managed the full regulatory submittal process with DERM through to approval.
Outcome
Site was assessed and cleared to DERM's satisfaction for the proposed sensitive land use. The project proceeded to construction without further environmental holds.
